Blog Adoption Under the Oklahoma Sky

Blogging has become an extension for those who desire to stand out and share and collaborate with those with the same passions, or those who yet discovered that they have the same passion. Under the Oklahoma Sky, as written and inspired by the one and only Amber Kanady, stuck out to me one day in the form of an assignment that challenged our class to scout out blogs that caught our interest, and I found inspiration through Amber’s blog through an Oklahoma Women’s Blog website. It was the visually captivating photographs she constructed and the poem-like blogs and format, its structure that drew me in more to know of her inspirations and her life.

Under the Oklahoma Sky has all its own persona. Its signature on the blogging community is one of the most unique I have come across to date. Even though Kanady personally told me that she reflects very deeply on her writing, which may take longer than she wants to, I believe that her photos make up for it; they fill in the spaces and complete what she is trying to say. From following Kanady’s blog, it has taught me, that while I rely on words a lot and writing has a rhythmic flow within my veins, photos or films really embody what you’re saying when you cannot always find the words to say; admit it, we all go through the occasional writer’s block that paralyzes us in our creative flow and tracks. However, with the words she does compose on her blog are inspirational, concise and she does not sugar coat a single word. She shows that you don’t always have to be so eloquent, as Shakespeare once was, to get your point across.

The way she bodies her words is fascinating to me. I don’t know if it is the font, or how the words are beautifully empowering and can achieve this by using very little words. I know that I tend to spice up my tone if voice in my writing, but I am constantly learning and honing my skills to where I can be powerful with my words, as Kanady has shown. I realize as I am writing this that I reflect deeply in what I say, but if I allow myself to be vulnerable in my writing, the words that are written and come to mind will be the words that were meant to be voiced; in the wise words of Bryce Avary of the Rocket Summer, “Life will write the words, you choose your own melody.”

Amber has proven to be inspirational with her passions of photography and blogging itself. However, the quality I have found most value is the person Under the Oklahoma Sky. From the moment I read her “About Me” section, I sensed an immediate connection with her because not only do we have similar likes, but we have a common tie: the blood of Jesus Christ. She is defined by the Savior of the world, and we share the same love for Him. She is my sister, and I feel like I know her, through her blog and life accounts.

Bates Motel Continues to Thrive

Exciting news, everyone! It has been released today that Bates Motel has already been renewed for another season!! It was around this time a year ago where people still squirmed at the sight of this overly affectionate relationship between mother and son, Norma and Norma(n) Bates. You have no idea how stoked I am! Plus, another episode is premiering. It is just an overall fantastic and eventful day! :)

Dressed for Success

How else could Alfred make such mind-numblingly, brilliant films if he did not dress for the part? (http://thoughtcatalog.com/shawn-binder/2013/10/23-alfred-hitchcock-facts-that-will-fascinate-you/). Dressing up for the production process, where he may have been preparing a speech for an award? You never know.... Looking spiffy, Mr. Hitchcock!

There is Certainly No Vacancy at Bates Motel (SPOILERS)

In summary of last week's episode in two words: Poor Dylan. Dylan has been living, what feels like to him, a lie. He is the offspring of an unfortunate event between his mother and brother: rape. My head is still reeling, because we as an audience was hit with the news with him. I know I have said this before, and I will say it again many times in the future: Bates Motel keeps me reeled in for more. This show is like a winding road; you never know where it is going to take you, and it almost always seems like the end of the road will end in a fatal "accident". You better watch out, Caleb. Norman Bates is on the hunt.

In this photo, Dylan has no idea just how dark and disturbed his uncle's infatuation with his mother really is.

No Matter What, Don't Look Down.....

You rebel. You looked down. I put that in your mind, so you would be drawn to this week's movie trailer, "Vertigo". I feel like I have been really stressing Hitchcock's most famous film, so I am taking a break from going "Psycho". The film "Vertigo", takes you to a place many faint at the sight of. If you have never seen "Vertigo", starring James Stewart and Kim Novak, it is trippy; especially if you legitimately have vertigo.

Life is Short

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means..... Whacked Out Wednesday. Don't worry, though. I am not going to literally whack you; I will whack you figuratively with a strange fact over the strange life of Alfred Hitchcock.

Did you know?

After many, many, many Thriller films later, in 1979, Hitchcock won the award out of any awards in existence: the Lifetime Achievement award. Upon receiving this honor, he joked to friends, "I guess this means I am about to die soon." In 1980, he dies. He became a part of his eerie, light-hearted joke. (Found at http://thoughtcatalog.com/shawn-binder/2013/10/23-alfred-hitchcock-facts-that-will-fascinate-you/). Well...... have a great day every one!

And….. He is the Father!!!

*(Typically, I would post this on Monday). Ok, I am just saying. This last week's episode, and this season in general, is taking disturbing turns, yet it is keeps reeling me in for more! Bates Motel is messing with our minds and with Norman's. It is only the beginning of the second season, and he is already showing the similarities in the original character, as seen in Hitchcock's film. Don't tell me what happens! I'm watching the episode tonight! Ahhhh, Norman's waiiii-ting….
